What have I been doing?

Most of last year was spent making Jewelry with Angel.  We were able to sell quite a bit in New York, thanks to one of my sisters, Iris, who is my best promoter and a great Sales Person.  ðŸ˜¸  In  2016, we joined a 3 day Braselton Festival event.  These were the hardest 3 days ever, and made enough funds to pay for the spot rental plus $200, not because our jewelry wasn't beautiful, but because the location of the spot was not easily accessible to buyers.  Most all vendors, that were up on this sloped area, did poorly in sales. During the 6 months of preparation for the event, I stayed away from my first love, quilting.  Although I did enjoy making the jewelry, I felt like I had no breathing time to do anything else.

In October, I lost my furry baby, my dear Sasha seemed to have been fine until 6 weeks before we had to end her suffering.  She had a tumor in her liver, that had been detected a year earlier but I had been told it was benign. This particular vet gave Sasha too much anesthesia during her biopsy surgery, which caused her to go practically blind! i won't go into what happened that made us realize he was more interested in making money than caring for our pets, so I immediatelly switched vets.  When  I switched to a new, well recommended vet,she said that had the vet handled the situation immediatelyy she would have gotten her eyesight back! In September, Sasha was back to see the new vet, the poor baby was often constipated and we did not know why.  The new vet did a big blood workup and the bloodwork showed signs of cancer.  Within a one month period, my baby went from 6 lbs to 3 lbs, yet she never gave up on following me everywhere, nor meeting us at the door whenever we returned from docs, or errands.  When she started urinating outside her litter box I knew she was trying to tell me it was time.   The vet gave me some pain meds for her and told me to keep her comfortable but to bring her back when she stopped eating.  Within the 2 weeks that I kept her home, I cried, hugging and kissing her, as much as I could.  We adopted Sasha when she was about 1 yr old, on Oct. 18th, 2002  and she was put to sleep on Oct. 17th, 2016.  We had her for 14 wonderful years.  In her memory I started making a quilt with embroidered silhouettes of cats.  All I have left to do is clip threads from the machine embroidered cats, and add the binding.  Losing a beloved pet is horrible, painful, and one feels as if a piece of them has been cut out of their heart.   😿
